Provencal vegetable soup
simple but hearty
Mumm champagne
A good bottle of champagne to start with has become our Tuesday "Lady's Meeting" tradition.
Unfortunately, we still have to bring our own "flute"( Lady VCP invented this kind of wine glass to better appreciate champagne) with our champagne to some restaurants in Taipei.
Boneless chicken leg with Turkish millet stuffed inside
chicken was tender and I love the millet(often used in Turkish restaurants in Paris but rarely seen in Taipei)
Vegetable Quiche
Went well with a bit of simple salad and Provencal style grilled tomatoes. The quiche crust was mille-feuille, good but a little bit dry, balanced well with the slightly cooked juicy tomatoes.
Red wine beef stew
This one was OK but" pas genial". Often this kind of dish is better home made. Along with Couscous, Coq au vin and Pot de feu, the best ones I've tried were mostly in some friend's house.
The Bretagne butter that my friend really liked
Wild mushroom hash brown with sunny side up egg
The House's famous croissants
good but doesn't have enough structure
Coffee Eclaire
very authentic
Chocolate mille-feuille
Chocolate was dark and pure and creamy. The mille-feuille crust was crispy and puffy, very nice.
This young Cotes du Rhone red is their house wine. simple but well balanced, has a nice flavor.
Good match with our brunch.
Walked by this place so many times but never went in. Probably because it's very famous here (and in Japan) but I never heard of it when I was in Paris. One time went to a morning movie with my nephew but couldn't find any decent restaurant which was open at that time, so we finally gave it a try. Surprisingly, the service and the simple dishes we ordered(crepe with sunny side up egg; vegetable quiche) were pretty good. You can pay 90NT and drink unlimited mineral water ( bubbly or not), which is pretty nice. Coffee sucks but tea from their own company was good. Milk served with tea or coffee was heated, very professional and hearty. This time came with my finicky friends, hopefully they weren't too disappointed?
