86F, 101 Building

For mother's day, dad invited everybody to this famousTaiwanese restaurant which is situated at the 86F and of 101 Building, considered the highest restaurant in Taipei.

The restaurant actually took the 86th and 87th floor,

so the ceiling is pretty high,

therefore, it's brighter and has a much nicer view than the two restaurants in 85th floor.

The rain just stopped.

It was rainning really hard so the air was clean and clear.

So, we were lucky to be able to see the sunset of 觀音山(Guan Yin Mountain).

Around 101 area.

The sashimi was nicely presented but the portion was extremly small.

Some fish dish with garlic, red pepper and chive.

Grilled sausage flavoured with rice alcohol.

Shark fin soup with chicken broth and ham, scallop.

Wedgewood tableware.

Sea cucumber and pig tenden.

The sea cucumber was flavourless and the rest was too salty.

Steamed Grouper fish.

The tofu under it was good with the sauce but the fish wasn't fresh enough.

Cabbage gratin with crab meat and scallop.

Too sweet.

Th shrimp roll and the squid ball were good.

Sticky rice with meat , egg and vegetable.

Steamed in a bamboo leaf.

Their famous noodle.

Lobster soup with tofu and Miso.

Fruit.

Some jello with Crème anglaise and grape.

A nice Wedgewood espresso cup,

but used to drink tea.

The restroom is very old fashioned Taiwanese:

lots and lots of gold and red color.

But the cleaning standard needs to improve.

***

Overall, the view was the best.

Food wasn't so impressive,

neither the ingredient quality or the cookiing skill.

Service was good.

Dan was playing at the nearby Brown Sugar that night,

so I went to take a cup of espresso at illy's café.

This used to be one of the best values in Paris,

their coffee beans were often packaged in a huge bag whcih looked like some dog food,

but the aroma of the coffee is always good and strong enough.

Then I went to a movie:

The Merigold Hotel.

The story is about one young Indian boy who dreamed to convert his dad's old shabby hotel to

a luxurious retirement apartment and got his first group of clients from England.

The director weaved several people's stories nicely together,

and the conversation was wise and had some sense of humor.

Quite a good digestif after a nice family dinner in 101.
